My Chemical Romance cancel their Soundwave appearance...but the ever brilliant Jimmy Eat World have confirmed as replacement.
MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE regretfully announce that they have been forced to cancel all upcoming engagements, including their appearance at The Soundwave Festival in Australia.
Singer Gerard Way has been having severe vocal problems and is under doctor's advisement to forgo the tour in order to receive treatment for his throat and vocal chords and protect their long-term use.
“We are really sorry that we’ve had to cancel this tour, and apologise for any inconvenience it has caused,” says singer Way. “The last thing we ever want to do is cancel shows, but we’ll be back to Australia to make it up to the fans as soon as possible.”
Patrons holding tickets to the MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE show at the Big Top, Luna Park on Thu 25 Feb are advised to contact their point of purchase to arrange a full refund of their tickets.
Soundwave would like to thank the ever brilliant JIMMY EAT WORLD who are interrupting their recording schedule in order to replace MCR on this year’s Soundwave bill.
JIMMY EAT WORLD have consistently held the number 1 spot as the most requested band by Soundwave fans (and staff!) and we look forward to having them on the festival after so many years of trying!

well as much as some of you guys will hate this comment, i begin my travel from ALbury, NSW to brisbane specifically to see MCR this year, no1 else in the line up interested me that much and the melbourne concert had sold out by time i could afford to go.... my trip now seems somewhat pointless lol, although im sure ill still have an awesome time in QLD, the whole point was to see a band i've loved for years and its a real shame that Gerard is having these issues, i hope he gets better quickly and i hope the band can come back to Aus soon xoxo

Saw MCR & Jimmy Eat World when they played at Green Day's American Idiot Tour. I'm not a big fan of either, but i'd have to say i'd much rather see MCR again. They were absolutely electric on stage. Jimmy Eat World just.. stood there.

Jimmy Eat World are far from brilliant. MCR pulling out could have made room for for a metal headliner, but no..it's another soft-as band. If I could have chosen the band to replace MCR I would have picked someone like The Red Shore, Carnifex (to premote their new album), The Black Dahlia Murder or possibly even Soilwork or All Shall Perish. Those bands are all great bands that most metal fans can appreciate.

Travolta is dam right! Paying $160 to see one band is pretty lame. There are like 20+ other bands going and your upset about the ONLY band you want to see pulling out. MCR are ok but jimmy eats world is dam good. I am excited for about the day, hanging with my friends and seeing my fav bands like alexisonfire, paramore, AFI, All time low, Taking back sunday, Escate the fate and many many more. So suck it up and enjoy your day at soundwave or get a refund. BYE!

OK so now you have the perfect opportunity to promote PARAMORE up the set list so they don't have to play for only 45 FREAKING MINUTES! On this website they have double the amount of fans than anyone else in the line up (when you go to their page in the line up). C'mon guys get your act together and listen to the TICKETHOLDERS. Even all their side shows got sold out in less than a day! DO THE MATH, promote them up the set list and give them more stage time!!!

I was so upset that I wasn't going to Soundwave (Melbourne) when my boyfriend and I broke up, and he wouldn't give my ticket back to me. But now I see that everything happens for a reason, Im so glad I didn't buy the ticket off him MCR were the main reason for me wanting to go.
I'm so sorry to all the MCR fans, that sucks so much. I hope you all get to see them play another time (and i hope i get to too!)

I have never been emo nor thought of cutting my wrists and the last time I cried was during a stupid dog movie like 7 years ago. My Chemical Romance isnt my life or anything stupid like that, I simply like the music, im not going to go cry about it because that is lame. I will wait for the next time they come, simple as that. Stop stereotyping the whole MCR fanbase. There are a few other bands that I would've liked to have seen, such as Anthrax and Shinedown, however both those bands play at the same time, so im not gonna spend 160 bucks on one of them. Bands such as Baroness, ISIS, Meshuggah and Anvil also interest me but none of them I think are worth spending 160 bucks. So once again, please be more considerate of others, its not making you appear tough or anything.
