Frequently Asked Questions

  1. SAFETY AND SECURITY AT SOUNDWAVE

    1. Soundwave is an all ages and licensed event.
    2. You will not be able to purchase or consume alcohol unless you have valid 18+ photo I.D.
    3. We strongly recommend young people from 15 to 18 be accompanied by a responsible adult (18+).
    4. People under 15 MUST be accompanied by a parent or guardian or they will not be admitted.
    5. Some of the artists appearing at Soundwave may use lyrics, language or gestures whilst entertaining that some people may find offensive. If such language or behavior concerns you, please do not attend. If you believe such language or behavior is unsuitable for minors, please do not allow them to attend.
    6. Remember to bring ID, your ticket, important phone numbers, sun block, any medication you may need, a hat, charged mobile phone, pen, still camera. If you have any chronic conditions or illness (i.e. asthma, diabetes, epilepsy) be sure to carry information regarding your condition and emergency contact number on you at all times.
    7. Allow enough time to get to and into the show. It can take some time to get through the gates and security checks depending on the time of day so please be patient.
    8. Make sure you dress in accordance with the weather forecast. Wear sensible shoes and clothes and bring a rain coat if need.
    9. Studded belts, Spike collars or any form of accessory may be deemed unsafe. It will be at security’s discretion whether or not items such as these will be allowed onto the site.
    10. There is guaranteed to be a strong drug detection operation in place (including drug detection dogs) inside and outside the shows and at nearest public transport hubs. Possession and/or consumption of illegal substances will not be tolerated.
    11. Any patron found to be intoxicated on arrival or within the venue will be ejected.
    12. You can bring a small bag or backpack, but remember that it will take longer to get into the show and if you want to check it in it will add more queues to your day.
    13. DO NOT bring the following items as you may be refused entry: No Weapons, Drugs, Alcohol, Glass, Eskies, Fireworks, surfboards, boogie boards, milk or bread crates, furniture, sporting equipment, drinks, No FRUIT or food (see below). No SHARP POINTED studded belts. No pets or animals of any kind.
    14. You are permitted to bring:
      • 1 fully sealed bottle of WATER
      • A packed lunch (e.g.: sandwiches - No FRUIT). However, please do remember that we’re most likely in for a hot day and food can spoil.
      • A sealed bag of lollies
    15. Make sure you pace yourself, drink plenty of water, eat some food that will give you some energy and be sure to get rest, when you can, to maximize your enjoyment on the day.
    16. No fruit will be allowed.
    17. Please bring enough cash for the day. There will be very limited ATM facilities inside.
  2. SECURITY

    Whether it's entering, leaving or in the festival you will be required to abide by any reasonable request or command from the Soundwave security. Remember that they are primarily there to keep the entire festival safe. If you need help or see someone needing help please notify them straight away. Crowd surfing, moshing and circle dancing are dangerous activities and will not be tolerated. Offenders will either be banned from the area or possibly removed from the site.

    Soundwave accepts no violence and any violence will result in immediate removal from the site.

  3. EMERGENCY EVACUATION

    Under extreme and unlikely circumstances a building, area or the entire site may be required to be evacuated or cleared. It will be imperative for you to follow all instructions and directions from emergency services, police, fire brigade and / or our security that would be requested of you in such a situation. Remember these people are only there to help so pay attention.

  4. FIRST AID

    There will be several St John's stations around the site to treat people who are genuinely ill or have injured themselves on the day. Try to minimize your demands on them if it does not relate to real issues as they have a very long and demanding day. Please note that the St. John officers are volunteering their services on the day to help you and we thank them for their tireless work.

  5. CAN I BRING MY CAMERA?

    No professional photography equipment is permitted, however point and click cameras and mobile phones are fine. No recording devices of any kind will be permitted.

  6. FREE WATER STATIONS

    There will be water stations located around the site. Maps will be handed out at the front gate which will point these stations out.

  7. PUBLIC TRANSPORT INFORMATION

    There will be no extra train services. A normal public holiday timetable will be running.

    Due to Transperth refusing to run extra trains for Soundwave patrons, we have organised FREE buses.

    They will be running from Bassendean to Perth, Midland, Scarborough, Fremantle and Joondalup at the times to the right.

    Parent set down is located at the corner of West Rd and Old Perth Rd.

    There will be a taxi rank set up on West Rd near the entrance to the venue.

    There is no parking available near the grounds so we encourage people to use alternative forms of transport. There will be no additional train services, so a normal public holiday schedule will be running. Bus schedules will be posted at a later date.

    BIC Reserve (entry off James Street) will be available for parking. There is also limited parking in Wilson Street carpark, and in some surrounding streets, but not immediately adjacent to the oval.

    Anybody parking in these areas needs to be respectful of the local community and obey any parking restrictions in place.

  8. DISABLED ACCESS INFORMATION

    Steel Blue Oval, Bassendean has wheelchair access and toilet facilities. However no special viewing areas are available but the venue is banked offering good views of the main stages.

  9. PARENT PICKUPS/DROPOFFS

    The main gate for pick ups/drop offs is located on Old Perth Road.
