Guys,
head on over and do your thing with the various pages above. For the sake of over stickyness, we'll leave this be, but random conversation will be welcomed, hell even appreciated, to keep this on the first page for a while.

yes AJ and the Melbourne office will all be having nervous breakdowns around the end of April.
Last year, there were hardly any tours in Mar/Apr - this year it's crazy and no time for recovery after SW

sweet. I think soundwavetouring should expand to NZ too. We need some BN and LP love.
How much does it tweet/facebook update? just when tours are announced?
If its your decision to be open about yourself, be careful or else.
ah shit, Matt, every day you give me more and more reasons to love you
We'll ramp it up when SW is over.
Still working on ideas to keep it interesting

dooodleeeee.
yeah, that was fun.
I'll admit your show is pretty decent. It's Luke that takes the cake though, its almost as good as his cam show!
Lukey you are a 17 year old boy. You are currently programmed to love tits.
Troy,
One thing I think is missing, but I have no idea how well it would run either.
Maybe for the tours that AJ brings out under the Soundwave banner, but not the festival, maybe local bands could support? If that was to happen, AJ would just need to put a different email under the contact tab, besides the festival emails.

nope, there is no way in hell he'd publicise his email address.
especially considering he does not participate in the local band selection process
current system is fine, i receive the emails weed out the shit (when i say shit, not musically - but the bands that can't put together a decent submission) and i forward them where they need to go.
if my memory strikes me well, you're the guy that actually does have his email address and emails every time a tour is announced. If that's you, i've been meaning to tell you to change strategy as you're only going to piss him off(and be added to blocked email addresses if you havent already) when he has stated he has nothing to do with it, and to email me on the info address.

Nah, I didnt mean his personal email address. I can imagine all the shit hed get if he did give it out. When I looked at the website, it only had festival contact details, I just thought there should be another section for the touring side of the business.
The system is fine, Ive got no problem with it. I like that you do actually go through the submissions. Just saying that if there were local bands for the touring side of the business, and submissions were taken, there wasnt any information of that on the website, and there should be. Thats all.
I dont have AJs email address either. Ive only ever asked about the festival, and when I did apply for the festival, I used the info@soundwavefestival address I was told to use.

Yes, go local university and/or football team.
Julie makes it hard for me to not be a lesbian.
re: snuffles & DDJW.
I rather thought that local bands didn't apply for a slot as a support band as per say, but that whoever has the job like snuffles who has an ear in the industry selected and asked a band if they would like to do it.
Making it more of a privelidge that was given to a band that had earned a bit of a name. I don't usually see a local band I don't know already supporting an international tour. I'd have already seen them at local shows, at bang or next, etc etc.
Am I making crap assumptions or is there at least a little bit of substance to my theory?
This is a place of judgement
Obscure:
Im not to sure on the matter. I know Blue Murder Touring, who brought out Slayer and Megadeth last year, take applications, and SW fest does. A friend of mine is in a pretty big metal band in the scene right now, and he gets supports just by knowing the right people. Although some companies do take applications, others dont. Like I said, my band applied for SW festival, but we were also offered a support slot for Behind Crimson Eyes through a promotional company as well. I dont know a lot about the industry though, and obviously, Snuffles would know a lot more than I would.
I can only speak from my (very little) experience.

There's a little rationale to your argument, however even established bands still need to throw their name in the fray while they are building themselves up. I'd imagine promoters such as SW and Blue Murder are open for applications but mostly will go for bands that are established. I don't know this for sure, as i 've never been privy to how they select, but it makes sense for them to take no risks. Quite often though, these deals come about by knowing the right people IMO
